[Announce] EAST RIVER DAY, SOLSTICE, and WEEKEND

Ahoy'all!

Thanks again to volunteers Nasha Schrape, Paul Baker, Warren Stevens, 
Pat McShane, and Sandy Sobanski for making our contribution to 
Clearwater such a fun success. We might even have moved closer to 
getting some new sponsors, which we URGENTLY need.

Looking forward, we're getting busier and busier! We have some great 
volunteer opportunities this week and weekend. 

1) Thursday is East River Day!

We need volunteers to paddle out and greet our harbor friends who'll 
be gathering at the New York Water Taxi Beach. Just a few of our 
painted (with the website and sponsors) sit-on-top kayaks and a canoe 
would be agreat.

2) Thursday is also the Summer Solstice! We have two options -- a trip 
across the East River to the Solar One site on Stuyvesant Cove or 
providing paddling at Hallets Cove. We provided paddling to Socrates 
Sculpture Park's celebrations last year and can do so again, or we can 
check out Solar One as originally planned for this year. Email 
trips at licboathouse.org with your "vote" of interest with SOLSTICE in 
the subject line. 

3) As always, we have a Friday Night Chill Paddle scheduled. Email 
trips at licboathouse.org with CHILL in the subject line if you'd like to 
participate.

4) On Saturday we've got a nice paddle to Brooklyn scheduled, and a 
fun reward for proven volunteers -- an attempt to see the Coney Island 
Mermaid Parade.   :)

if you'd like to participate. Sorry, the Coney Island trip is only for 
experienced volunteers who have given a lot of time to the boathouse.

We'll also be putting a kayak on display at the new Rockrose East 
Coast building on Saturday, and we need a painting touch-up ahead of 
that. Any help? Email erik at licboathouse.org if you can represent the 
boathouse there for a bit, or help with the painting.

As always, we need volunteers to help at Hallets Cove! What a great 
way to spend a summer day, hanging on a beach and helping kids have a 
wonderful new experience of their natural environment.
