Hi All,
This is so exciting! 5 Borough Harbor Ramble. Wahoo!
Again, Hallets Cove paddlers must check in with Paul and follow his
orders. He might need you at the boathouse, or to simply show up at
Hallets Cove at 930. ASK HIM.
Bonus note: an Olympic rower may be joining us. But like everyone else,
she's got to hold back on the speed and travel with the group. (Hint to
speed demons.)
But no one will be beloved for dragging the rear either. If we don't
reach the Brooklyn Bridge on time, it's all over. See the FLOAT PLAN for
details, along with our list of participants. Both documents are
available as .pdf files through these links (kindly hosted by John
McGarvey):

Note to marine radio owners and designated operators: Stay on Channel
68. Only the safety boats will communicate with harbor traffic on
Channel 13 and other public channels. Keep the chatter to a minimum on 68.
John McGarvey will be your point. No paddler will pass John, who will be
in a sit-on-top Cobra kayak. Steve Blumling will be in a longer blue and
white enclosed cockpit boat, serving as a roving shepherd. I will be in
a yellow tandem, holding the center (with apologies to Yeats). Paul
Mallery and Paul Baker will be on sweep in the back. Another rover will
be Matthew McGregor Mento, in a yellow folding kayak.
YOU MUST STAY IN FORMATION. This is not hard, nor is it a fun killer.
You can call me tonight AFTER 9PM at 917 579 9822. But be a sport and
let me sleep from 11PM until 430AM, okay?
Thanks!
Erik
