    Dear Friend of the Waterfront,

With the 4th Annual City of Water Day Festival less than 3 weeks away, I want to make sure you’re aware of 4 great event opportunities:

    1. FREE boat tour tickets will be available online (www.cityofwaterday.org) starting Friday. City of Water Day includes dozens of exciting narrated harbor tours on the region’s most distinctive vessels, but tickets are limited. Make sure you get yours tomorrow.
    1. We have partnered with Offshore Sailing School to give away free sailing excursions from Governors Island and Liberty State Park on City of Water Day through a Twitter Contest. Visit www.cityofwaterday.org/twitter-contest/ for all the details.
    1. We will be hosting a Harbor Education Task Force meeting at the City of Water Day Festival on Governors Island. Come help our region develop more on-water educational experiences for our children, giving them the knowledge and tools needed to care for and revitalize our waterfront and harbor.

Also at the festival on Governors Island, we will be presenting Water-Rama: A Symposium on our Harbor. Speakers will cover diverse topics, including the future of the DCP’s Comprehensive Waterfront Plan, the effect of the EPA’s superfund program on local waterfront sites, the history and development of Staten Island’s gold coast, and contemporary ecological issues associated with northeastern estuaries.

    1. And finally, we need volunteers! If you’d like to help with City of Water Day, you can sign up to volunteer for a range of different tasks involving boats/kayaks, greeting and attendee assistance, the press event and more. Visit www.cityofwaterday.org/volunteer/.

The 2011 City of Water Day Festival is going to be bigger and better than ever, with hundreds of new and returning sponsors, partners, and volunteers.Make sure to take advantage of the above opportunities and help spread the word!
    Best wishes,
