Opening Day for LICCB’s Public Walk Up Paddling program at the beach at Hallets Cove is SUNDAY MAY 27.

Come and celebrate the holiday weekend with us!  Able bodies are always welcome, especially during the period of 1-5pm on the beach at Hallets Cove.  Hallets Cove is in Astoria, next to Socrates Sculpture Park.  Look for the folks in the boats at Vernon Boulevard and 31st St.

We are looking for people with the ability to enjoy themselves while fitting out kids and grownups with paddling equipment, getting them into sit-on-top kayaks, and launching them out into the protected waters of the cove–then bringing them back in with big smiles on their faces!  It’s fun and easy.  With ample crew, everyone has a good time!  We’d love to see you there, please join us.

Beach volunteers are given preference for the 1.9 mile paddling trip back to Anable Basin, our launching place.

SATURDAY MAY 26   The Sebago Canoe Club  is hosting an Open House on their luscious grounds in Paerdegat Basin in Canarsie, Brooklyn.  We encourage LICCB participants to attend.  This is not an official LICCB event, but simply an opportunity to enjoy a lovely day (rain or shine) in a beautiful place with other boating enthusiasts.  Ample trees, grass, and shrubbery provide cool comfort.  There’s plenty of places to sit and relax and enjoy.  Their dock is a thing of beauty, not to be missed!  The day’s activities include paddling, rowing, and barbeque.  For details, please visit:  http://www.sebagocanoeclub.org/

MONDAY May 28th has a day trip in store, weather permitting.  Please check back for details of this LICCB trip, a little jaunt with some good sight seeing on the East River.  Some chill for your Memorial Day, space to contemplate freedom.  We’ll launch from and return to Anable Basin.

We’re looking forward to seeing YOU at one or all of these events!
