Greetings Friends of LIC Community Boathouse!

There’s an opportunity TODAY (June 29th) to pull an oar in a beautiful large row boat at Anable Basin (5th Street end, north of 46th Ave) at 6PM running until dark. Village Community Boathouse (VCB) will offer beginner ROWING in one of their big four oar gigs. This is not an LICCB program, participants must sign a VCB waiver to participate. Minors must have an adult present. You’ll row with experienced volunteers from VCB and learn the basics.
VCB will also offer rowing opportunities at Hallets Cove this Sunday and next July 10th.

With the Fourth of July weekend approaching accompanied by a fine weather forecast, here’s your reminder that we have lots of paddling planned every day tomorrow through Monday.
Check the calendar page for trip details, then use the Request-a-Trip page to request a spot or two.

Thursday’s Fireworks Paddle and the Friday Sunset Paddle are extremely popular. The Saturday paddle to Barretto Point Park is longer, requiring experience and some stamina. On Monday, there’s a moderate morning trip around Randalls Island which ends early enough for you to still enjoy your holiday evening plans.

Hallets Cove Paddling will be extended to 5 hours this Sunday, starting at noon and running until 5PM followed by the easy paddle back to the boathouse. Volunteers at Hallets have first crack at that trip on a first come basis. We anticipate a busy sunny day. Volunteers, please come out and pitch in for part or all of the Sunday afternoon program at Hallets Cove (31st Ave at Vernon Blvd). New volunteers are always especially welcome. Just show up and let one of us know that you’d like to help.

Best wishes to all for a sunny, safe and fun Independence Day weekend !!

The Crew,
LIC Community Boathouse
