Boathouse This Week May 18-24
Boathouse meeting May 19.
College Point May 22.
Hallets Cove May 23.
Friday Chill June 4.
LICCB had a huge opening day last Sunday. 30 volunteers paddled 17 boats from the boathouse to Hallets Cove. Over 100 more paddled the cove and then every seat was full again for the paddle back to the boathouse. This was our best season opener yet and bodes well for our 2010 season. Thanks to all who participated, we’re off to a great start. Photos will be posted on the web site soon.
Wednesday May 19, Boathouse meeting , 7PM-8:30 at 46-01 Fifth Street, LIC, 11101. Please come and help organize the 2010 season. New volunteers especially welcome. This will be our last regular meeting until fall
Saturday, May 22, We’ll be helping Coastal Preservation Network (CPN) to offer walk up paddling at MacNeil Park in College Point. We did this last year and it was great fun. See info about this Saturday’s event here: http://www.coastalpreservation.org/ More info on Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/home.php?#!/event.php?eid=112652268759574 We’ll need volunteers to meet at our boathouse to help pack up boats and gear at 9:00 AM. We’ll return around 4:00. If you want to join us for this, please email LICBoathouse@gmail.com, put “College Point” in the subject line, and tell us if you’re bringing a friend, need a ride or can offer one. All are welcome. It’s free and CPN will have coffee, pizza and goodies for volunteers. Dress appropriately if you intend to paddle.
Sunday May 23, Hallets Cove Paddle: 1PM – 5 PM. We’ll trailer boats this week because tides won’t help us. Volunteers can meet at the boathouse at 11AM to load up or at the cove at 1PM. Volunteers, please rsvp so we’ll know who’s coming: email LICBoathouse@gmail.com with “MAY 23″ in your subject line. Walk ups are always welcome for Hallets paddles.
Friday June 4th, will be the first Friday Chill Paddle of the season ( if weather allows). New this year, registration will be via the new “Request a Trip” page on the web site. You can request a trip, for one or two seats, from 10 days until 3 days prior to each trip. Participants and volunteers for these very popular trips are selected by lottery. Responses will be sent to all applicants 48 hours before the trip.
