Don’t go near the water…
In an awful deja vu feeling we share this NYTimes story about the disaster at the North River Treatment Plant. The fire and subsequent shutdown has resulted in millions and millions of gallons of untreated wastewater falling directly into the Hudson and Harlem rivers.

40 years ago it was standard practice to dump untreated wasted directly into the waterways. Money from the Clean Water Act made possible the treatment of raw sewage and led to waterways suitable for recreation, such as human-powered boating.
